After more than a decade of work, about 80 percent of Arsenal land had been removed from the EPA's Superfund List and all the contaminated soil excavation projects outlined in the Arsenal's ROD have been successfully completed. Groundwater treament will continue after the cleanup is complete. Most remaining cleanup work involves clean construction, which means moving clean soils and materials to build covers over the landfills and consolidation areas. The cleanup program is anticipated to be finished in 2010. |
